Description
Left Behind was composed after my lifelong best friend suddenly passed away. I could not express in words the heartache I was experiencing, so I expressed it in this composition. The A-section opens with the crying out motif that meanders, sweeping down, back up, and down again. This leads to the more hopeful and reminiscent B-section that is filled with sweet, nostalgic, and happy memories. The repeat of the A-theme in the higher register of the piano creates an ethereal effect. The outro consists of an ascending broken chord that dissipates into the heavens.
